Effortless Neutrals: Pale Blue Edition

Fall is upon us and the holidays are right around the corner. The leaves are starting to change and we are planning our thanksgiving menus while looking forward to spending time with our loved ones. Above the red and orange tinged trees we notice the perfectly clear pale blue sky and my heart found its instant happy place.

It’s no wonder that blue is one of the most popular color for interior spaces. Its subtle neutral pairs with any decor. It relaxes us and connects us to nature. We provided a roundup of some of our favorite pale blue interior spaces

Sheer Luxe

We love this pale blue mid century model chair. These chairs are a timeless classic and a total work horse. There is an effortless simplicity to this room. Consider using pale blue as the sole color in neutral spaces. This instantly draws focus while keeping the rest of the room light and airy.

House Beautiful

Layers of warmth and simplicity. Blue is a good neutral color that blends extraordinarily and pairs with many design sensibilities. It works well in guest bedrooms to provide a welcoming and comfortable respite for weary travelers. Pairing a pale blue with a grounding color such as a light beige provides  good contrast and lets the blue pop into the foreground while the beige fades into the background. When layering a room with color divide the room into thirds and make sure each third has a decorative color element so the room feels balanced. This can be a throw, a pillow, a window treatment or even a decorative lamp. These are your statement pieces, or key design elements that will unify the space.

One Kings Lane

A cozy oasis. A blue tinged white can make a great field color for your space. This is great for those that are afraid of color and want to stick with trusted neutrals. Make sure the blue is still visible and the paint doesn’t read completely white. This will allow your decorative accents to bring out the blue undertones in the white paint. We recommend Sherwin Williams 6519 Hinting Blue

SW 6519 Hinting Blue

Since your room color is a pale light blue, take the opportunity to go with bold accent pieces to decorate the rest of the space. We love the bold colors on the bookcase paired against the neutral seat cover and pillow in the reading nook.

Country Living Magazine

A festive feast. Even though pale blue is typically associated with spring, it can still be incorporated with your fall thanksgiving decor. We love this idea of painted mini pumpkin centerpieces. Pairing pale blue against deeper rich toned navy provides a great level of contrast and sets the tone for the color of the season. Be sure to leave a few pumpkins unpainted, it is thanksgiving after all! Happy Early Thanksgiving! Until Next Time! – D
